This procedure describes the removal and replacement of the controller modules. This
procedure should also be used in the following situations:
•
When installing the A5278A Controller Module to upgrade a single controller disk array
to a dual controller configuration.
Replacement of the controller modules must be performed by a trained service
representative.
Replacement controller modules do not contain a cache memory DIMM card.
Note
The DIMM must be transferred from the failed controller module to the
replacement module. The following procedure includes steps to transfer the
DIMM.
The add-on A5278A Controller Module includes a DIMM card. When installing
an A5278A Controller Module, it is not necessary to install DIMM memory.
Controller Compatibility
Controller modules have operating-specific firmware installed and are not interchangeable.
When replacing a controller, you must ensure that the proper controller is installed for the
host operating system. In addition, there are two versions of the HP-UX controller which
are interchangeable. However, only one of the HP-UX controllers is upgradeable to
Windows NT/2000. See
