When replacing the controller fan module, make sure you have the replacement module
available before removing the defective module. Once you remove the controller fan
module, you have approximately 15 minutes to install the new fan module. Operating
the disk array without a controller fan module for more than 15 minutes may cause a
thermal shutdown.

Both fans in the controller enclosure fan module failing simultaneously is unlikely. Such
a failure would cause the temperature in the enclosure to rise, triggering a sensor in the
fan module to turn on the Fan Fault LED. Operating the disk array at an elevated
temperature for an extended period of time could damage the controller modules.
