Backplane/Mezzanine Removal/Replacement
Replace the backplane when troubleshooting determines it is the source of the problem.
Disks, BCCs, fans, and power supplies connect to the backplane. The backplane also
contains the mezzanine board, which can be replaced independently if it is damaged or the
power switch requires replacement. (The mezzanine board contains the power switch.)
The backplane and mezzanine boards must be replaced by a trained service representative
only. Also, the disk enclosure will need to be powered down to complete this procedure.
To replace the backplane or mezzanine boards, complete the following steps:
1.
Power off the disk enclosure and remove it from the rack. See
on page
304.
2.
Remove the top cover. See
3.
If you are removing only the mezzanine:
a. Remove the five Torx T-10 screws securing the mezzanine to the backplane (see
Figure
102).
b. Pull the mezzanine board free of its connector (C) on the backplane.
