case, the controller with the higher firmware version number will be used as the firmware
source and its code will be copied to the other controller.
Note
Can I use ACS to create the controller firmware configuration I need?
It is not recommended that you rely on ACS to alter the firmware on a
controller. You should use the firmware download procedures described in
Chapter 4 for changing the controller firmware.
NVSRAM Behavior
The NVSRAM settings control various operating parameters of the disk array. Because of
its importance, a copy of each controller's NVSRAM is stored in the dacStore region on the
disks. During the Start Of Day process, each controller reads the NVSRAM information
from the disks and uses it to configures its NVSRAM settings.
This automatic updating of the NVSRAM may cause undesired results in some situations.
For example, you might attempt to upgrade the firmware on a disk array by installing two
new controllers that have the new firmware loaded on them. When the disk array is
powered up, the older version of the NVSRAM will be copied from the disks to the
controllers. This results in NVSRAM that does match the firmware and bootware on the
controller.
