or a dry, clean, microfiber-type lens cleaning cloth. To dissolve
any oil or grease on the screen, use a small amount of window
cleaner or alcohol. Pre-packaged moist towelettes, especially
those containing a small amount of alcohol, are excellent for
cleaning the display screen. You may want to keep a supply
handy for removing fingerprints and other smudges.
Whenever possible, avoid touching the glass with your fingers,
since the natural oils of your hand will temporarily affect the
characteristics of the screen, causing your fingerprints to
appear as bright reflections. These will disappear, however,
when the screen is cleaned as described above.
To prevent moisture and dirt from entering the processor,
keep the CD-ROM drive's door and tray closed unless you're
inserting or removing a CD. Because the 961/962 copies and
stores CD data onto its internal hard drive, you'll only have to
insert these CDs during their installation. You shouldn't have
to open or close the drive for any other reason.
Keep all of your CDs in a safe, watertight place where they
won't be damaged or exposed to sunlight and any other kind
of heat.
You can interface the 961/962 to a variety of devices,
including autopilots, paper plotters (traditional navigation
devices using paper charts), radar plotters (navigation devices
tracking radar data as well as waypoints), instrument displays,
and personal computers, and to the Northstar 490 for echo
sounding.
The 961/962 features the following interface ports:
three independent output ports for driving
NMEA-compatible devices
three input ports for accepting data from other NMEA
devices
an auxiliary (aux) port for either input or output of
SC-104 DGPS corrections and for uploading/downloading
waypoints, routes, or tracks to/from a personal computer
