Selecting new
charts
Page 4-8
2. At the GO TO COORDINATES dialog box, press the
RESTART HERE key.
The your desired track is restarted to run from your
present position to the active waypoint, and the CHART
screen is displayed.
For an in-depth description of restarting the track, see
"Restarting the track" starting on page 10-19.
At the CHART screen, you have four options for viewing other
charts:
select a different chart appropriate for your position
select from a list of charts at the vessel position or the
cursor position
view a list of all charts in the database
use a plotter grid instead of a chart
To quickly select a different chart, briefly press the NEW
CHART key. With each brief keypress, you'll cycle through all
the available charts for your specific location—right on the
CHART screen. When you see the desired chart, stop pressing
the NEW CHART key. As you cycle through the available
charts, the 961/962 selects a chart of the same scale being
viewed until there's a better scale to choose from. When there
aren't any better charts to choose from, you'll see the
MESSAGE FOR YOU, CAPTAIN! dialog box, informing you
that there is no better resolution chart available for your
position.
To view the charts stored in the database, press and hold the
NEW CHART key for about two seconds, and a list of the
installed charts containing the present position is displayed. If
the cursor wasn't on the screen when you pressed NEW
CHART, a list of charts covering the present vessel position is
displayed; if the cursor was on the screen when you pressed
NEW CHART, a list of charts covering the cursor position is
displayed.
