Searching for a waypoint

961/962 Operations and Reference Manual, Rev. A
resorted while you're displaying the list; you must leave and
return to viewing the WAYPOINTS screen to update the
sorting order.
Displaying local waypoints
To show the waypoints closest to your current position (also
called local waypoints), highlight the DISTANCE column, then
enter zeroes into the SEARCH field. The list then shows those
waypoints that are closest to your present position at the top
of the list.
To show a list of waypoints sorted by bearing, press the
CURSOR PAD right to highlight the BRG column, which is
automatically updated as you continue to navigate. When
sorted by bearing, if you want to see all the waypoints to the
east, for example, look at the part of the list containing
bearings near 090
If you've stored hundreds of waypoints, scrolling through the
entire list to find the one you want may be tedious. At the
WAYPOINTS screen, you can search for waypoints by the
same categories as the sorting process; that is, you can search
by symbol, name, distance, and bearing:
To search for waypoints by symbol, press the CURSOR
PAD left to highlight the SYMBOL column (shown at the
far left without a heading), then press the LEFT ARROW
and RIGHT ARROW keys to cycle through all the
symbols. Each LEFT ARROW or RIGHT ARROW keypress
will highlight a different symbol in the SEARCH field.
To search for waypoints by name, press the CURSOR PAD
left or right to highlight the NAME column, then use the
KEYPAD to enter the first few characters, as necessary, of
the waypoint's name.
