specify a new waypoint to go to now
add new waypoints to the end of the trip
restart your desired track (if you've gone off-course)
select, view, and search for new charts, or display a plotter
grid
view NOAA tide-station data for the 24-hour period of a
chosen date
view currents for the 24-hour period of a chosen date
view live echo sounding data (for details, see the Northstar
490 Echo Sounder Operations Manual, GM490)
clear the CHART screen of menu keys and other chart
symbols
display in-depth navigation information about your
position
use the SAVE key to save your vessel's position as a
waypoint or as part of a route (this can be done from any
screen as well as the CHART screen)
You also can easily create a new route right from the
screen. To make a new route, see "Making a new route" starting on
page 4-24.
To specify new coordinates from the CHART screen, press the
GO TO key and the GO TO COORDINATES dialog box appears.
Your most recently used position is displayed, as well as its
distance and bearing. If desired, use the KEYPAD to enter new
coordinates (press the TDS,LAT/LON key to switch between
displaying lat/lon and TDs). Press the CURSOR PAD right to
move the cursor to enter longitude. You can also press the
CURSOR PAD down to enter distance and bearing to the new
point, instead of lat/lon or TDs, and the coordinates will be
calculated for you.
