When the item(s) is correct, press the DONE or ACCEPT key.
The full screen of data is accepted and stored in the database.
In some fields, such as waypoint distance, bearing, and lat/lon,
you can enter only numbers. In other fields, such as waypoint
names, you can enter letters, numbers, and punctuation
characters.
Each key is labeled with three letters or other special
characters, and a number. Here's an example: The upper
left-hand key is labeled with the letters A, B, C, and the
number 1. To enter these characters, press the key once to
show the letter A; press the key again to show the letter B;
press a third and fourth time to show the letter C and the
number 1, respectively. A fifth keypress returns you to the
letter A. The other nine keys use this same method for data
entry.
To enter data:
1. Find the key containing the desired letter, number, or
character.
2. To display the letter, number, or character, press that key
one to four times.
3. To move the cursor to the next position, press the RIGHT
ARROW key. When entering numbers, each new keypress
automatically moves the field's blinking cursor to the
next position.
4. Repeat for each letter, number, or character.
You must maintain the 961/962 at a certain level to retain
peak performance. Topics covered here include basic
maintenance, weatherproofing, cleaning the screen, and
safeguarding the chart CDs. For further information about
maintenance, including how to return a 961/962 for service,
see "Maintenance functions" starting on page 14-17.
