Chapter 13 - Customizing Setup Functions
Range rings
Distance scale
Page 13-34
Range rings help you find your vessel on the CHART screen.
Their purpose is two-fold: One, they let you quickly locate
your position on the chart; that is, you can always find your
vessel by looking dead center into the smallest range ring.
Two, they graphically illustrate the distance—in any
direction—from a point on the chart to your vessel. You can
turn on or turn off the display of range rings on the CHART
screen. When on, range rings are displayed as circles around
your vessel. The radius of the rings is shown in the lower left
corner of the screen, in user-selectable units (that you select
on the DISPLAY SETUP screen in the DIST/SPEED field). The
default setting is ON.
To change the RANGE RINGS setting:
1. At the CHART SETUP screen, press the CURSOR PAD to
highlight the RANGE RINGS option, then press the EDIT
key.
2. Press the CURSOR PAD left or right or press the LEFT
ARROW or RIGHT ARROW keys to select either ON or
OFF.
3. Press the ACCEPT key (or CANCEL to leave the option
unchanged).
4. Press RETURN to go back to the SETUP MENU screen.
You can turn on or turn off the display of the distance scale
bar on the left side of the CHART screen.
To change the DISTANCE SCALE setting:
1. At the CHART SETUP screen, press the CURSOR PAD to
highlight the DISTANCE SCALE option, then press the
EDIT key.
