Installing the M.2 SATA SSD enablement option
The M.2 SATA SSD enablement option includes a PCIe3 x8 add-in card (AIC) that supports two M.2 2280 SATA SSDs. This AIC is only
compatible with Windows operating systems.

To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless all PCIe slots have either an
expansion slot cover or an expansion card installed.

To use the embedded HPE SR100i Gen10 Plus Software RAID controller to manage the M.2 SATA SSDs, set the server boot mode
to UEFI.
The SATA cable that ships with the M.2 SATA SSD AIC is not compatible with this server.
If an optical drive is already installed in the server, use the same optical drive-M.2 SSD SATA splitter cable to connect the M.2
SATA SSD AIC.
If an optical drive is not installed, order the optical drive-M.2 SSD SATA splitter cable option (P39141-B21).
Before you perform this procedure, make sure that you have the following items available:
T-15 Torx screwdriver
Phillips No. 1 screwdriver—This tool is required only if the M.2 SSDs are not preinstalled on the AIC.

1. Insert the SSD into the M.2 slot at a 45° angle.
2. Carefully press the SSD down to the horizontal position.
3. Install the SSD mounting screw.
4. If you are installing a second SSD, repeat steps 1–3.

5. If installed, remove the front bezel .
6. Power down the server.
