Field Coil
Field Coil Continuity Test
Check for continuity between the field coil terminals using a
multimeter (Figure 359). The multimeter should indicate
continuity.
If the multimeter does not indicate continuity, replace the field
coil assembly.
Field Coil Insulation Test
Check for continuity between the field coil terminal and the yoke
using a multimeter (Figure 360). The multimeter should not
indicate continuity.
If the multimeter indicates continuity, replace the field coil
assembly.
Measure Brush Length
Measure the length of the brush (Figure 361). Replace the
brush if the length is less than the limit.
