On models equipped with an oil cooler, remove the
coolant hose (1, Figure 115) at the oil cooler.

After draining the engine coolant, flush the radiator and
engine block to remove any rust, scale and contaminants.
Then reinstall and tighten the drain plug or close the drain
cock in the radiator. Reinstall and tighten the cylinder
block drain plug or reconnect the coolant hose at the oil
cooler.

Fill radiator and engine with engine coolant. See "Filling
Radiator with Engine Coolant" on page -45
Check and Replace Fuel Hoses and Engine Coolant Hoses
Always be environmentally responsible.
Follow the guidelines of the EPA or other governmental
agencies for the proper disposal of hazardous materials
such as engine oil, diesel fuel and engine coolant. Consult
the local authorities or reclamation facility.
Never dispose of hazardous materials irresponsibly by
dumping them into a sewer, on the ground, or into ground
water or waterways.
Failure to follow these procedures may seriously harm the
environment.
Regularly check the fuel system and engine coolant system
hoses. If they are cracked or degraded, replace them. Replace
the hoses at least every two years.
Lap the Intake and Exhaust Valves
Adjustment is necessary to maintain proper contact of the
valves and seats. See "Inspection of Intake and Exhaust
Valves" on page -114
