Chapter 7 Installation
• Each pair of wires/parcels which overlap must be designated as neighboring parcels.
Multi-fields can be used
- to manage large complex mowing areas,
- to provide a means to return the robot to the charge station without the need for the
positioning beacon.
The elements of a multi-field installation are shown in the figure below.
Figure 64: Multi-field installation
Wire 1/Parcel 1 is the small loop to which the charging station is connected. In this example
it lies within Wire 2/Parcel 2. When in this field the robot will not use the track border and will
just follow the wire to enter the station.
Wire 2/Parcel 2 is a neighbor of Wire 1/Parcel 1. Wire 3/Parcel 3 is a neighbor of Wire 3/
Parcel 3. It is also a neighbor of Wire 4/Parcel 4.
Wire 3/Parcel 3 is a transition zone used to connect the main mowing areas of Wires 1 and 2.
The proportion of time that the robot spends mowing in Wires 1 and 4 is determined by the
percentage values assigned to the corresponding parcels. For Wires 1 and 3 the percentage
can be set to 0.
For examples of multi-field installations and their configuration details see

Overlaps
An overlap is an area that lies within 2 fields and is used for the robot to transition from one
field to another.
