28. Crankshaft Trigger Gear Assembly and Crankshaft Idler Gear Installation

NOTICE: The left crankshaft idler gear, the camshaft gear, and the crankshaft trigger gear
assembly all have etched circles, identified below and shown in Figure 109.
• Apply a liberal amount of engine oil to the idler gear shafts and crankcase shaft bore before
assembly.
• The mark on one gear tooth of the left crankshaft idler gear (Figure 109) must mesh with the
space between the marked teeth on the camshaft gear.
• The small etched circle on the crankshaft trigger gear assembly tooth must align with the
involute between the two marked teeth of the left crankshaft idler gear. No other
combination of gear alignment will enable correct valve timing.
