B. Starter Installation
(1) Install the starter onto studs and seat on mounting face of the engine (Figure 47).
(2) Install the starter with a flat washer, a new lock washer, and a nut on each of the three
studs.
(3) Install the bolt, a new lock washer, and a flat washer in the vacated hole on the engine
mounting face of the starter.
(4) Tighten and torque the bolt and all of the nuts per the Standard Torque Tables in the latest
revision of the Service Table of Limits - SSP-1776 .
(5) Install electrical leads to the starter as per the airframe manufacturer's manual.
(6) Connect the battery.
(7) Complete the operational ground check in Chapter 72-00, to make sure the starter
operates correctly.

21. Starter Ring Gear Support Replacement

A. Starter Ring Gear Support Removal
(1) If not already done, release the tension on the alternator belt.
(2) Remove the alternator belt from the starter ring gear support (figure 48).
(3) Remove the starter ring gear support from the crankshaft propeller flange.
B. Starter Ring Gear Support Installation
(1) Install the alternator belt in the pulley of the starter ring gear support per the "Alternator
Belt Installation" procedure in this chapter.
(2) Assemble the ring gear support assembly over the propeller flange bushings.
(3) Locate the starter ring gear so that the "0" on the ring gear support assembly aligns with
the "0" on the crankshaft flange.
