1. Recommended Approach to Fault Isolation

The Field Service Tool (FST) is a diagnostic software tool loaded on a digital display device
(computer laptop, Notebook, etc. running Microsoft
the engine using the iE
(ST-530). As the EECS components and the Engine Control Unit (ECU) monitor and control
engine operation. The optional Data Logger (if installed) continuously collects data.
When connected to the ECU the FST can:
• Display fault codes (referenced in the Trouble-Shooting Guide in Appendix D)
• Clear fault codes
• Display real time engine data
• Download Data Logger data
The data history can show trends to further help with engine diagnostics. The FST is to be used
only during servicing and maintenance and NOT during flight.
A. Additional Fault Isolation Guidelines
(1) In addition to the FST, the Fault Isolation Guide in Table 1 shows the specific problems,
causes, and corrections. Continue from the simplest to the most complex possible causes
and corrections.
(2) Review maintenance logs to identify trends and possible causes.
(3) Discuss operational problems with the pilot to identify background, details, or incidents
of unusual operation.
(4) The "Ref." column in Table 1 contains references to the following:
(a) A lone numeric entry such as "72-00" refers to a chapter in this manual.
(b) IOM refers to the TEO-540-C1A Engine Installation and Operation Manual.
(c) AMM refers to the Airframe Manufacturer's Manual.
(d) POH refer to the Pilot's Operating Handbook.
B. Record all findings and corrective action.
