50-Hour Engine Inspection Checklist for TEO-540-C1A Engines (Cont.)
Inspection Item
Remove, examine, clean and
install the oil suction screen at
the oil sump. Replace the oil
suction screen if distorted,
deformed or open areas are
found in the mesh.
Look for any fuel or oil leaks
before cleaning the engine.
Wipe dirt from the exterior of
the engine.
Turbocharger
Complete the 50-Hour
Turbocharger Inspection.
Ignition System
Remove spark plug connector
nuts and examine spark plug
cable leads and ceramics for
corrosion and deposits.
Replace spark plugs as
necessary per Chapter 74-20.
Clean the cable ends, spark plug
walls, and ceramics.
Make sure that the spark plug
connections are tight.
Replace any broken, cracked,
deformed, or corroded parts.
Dry all parts using compressed
air.
Examine each ignition lead for
chafing, insulation breakdown,
frayed wiring, deterioration, heat
damage, wear, and cracking.
Examine the ignition lead
routing.
Make sure that the ignition lead
mounting clamps are tight.

Refer to the section in
Chapter 12-10: "Oil
Suction Screen
Removal/Inspection/
Cleaning/Installation."
Identify and correct the
cause of any leak.
Refer to the "50-Hour
Turbocharger Inspection"
in Chapter 72-40.
Corrosion and deposits are
evidence of leaking spark
plugs or of improper
cleaning of the spark plug
walls or connector ends.
Refer to the section "Spark
Plug Cleaning" in Chapter
05-30.
Refer to the section
"Ignition Lead Inspection"
in Chapter 74-20.
Tighten any loose clamps.
