14. Airframe Interface Wiring Harness Installation

CAUTION
USE CAUTION AROUND THE WIRING HARNESS. THE WIRING
HARNESS CAN BE EASILY DAMAGED AND CANNOT BE REPAIRED. IF
ONE WIRE BREAKS ON THE WIRING HARNESS, THE COMPLETE
HARNESS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED.
NO EECS PARTS OR HARNESS CAN BE INTERCHANGED BETWEEN
ENGINES UNLESS AGREED UPON BY LYCOMING ENGINES.
NOTICE: All the plugs on the wiring harness are uniquely keyed and must be in the correct
orientation for the plug to install correctly in the receptacle. Refer to Appendix B in this
manual.
This procedure can be done with the engine installed in the airframe.
Refer to latest revision of the Aircraft Maintenance Manual for aircraft specific removal
and installation details.
A. Refer to the wiring diagram.
B. Ensure power is off.
C. Ensure EECS/ECU breaker is pulled.
CAUTION
D. If a new fuselage harness is to be installed, remove each clamp and attaching hardware.
E. Install the harness with same routing as the removed harness.
F. Secure all clamps on the harness using previous removed screws/bolts, washers, nuts and
new lock washers, in same identified location they were removed
NOTICE: The threaded plugs must be tightened until the red colored band of the receptacle
cannot be seen from the side of the connection.
G. Ensure O-rings are on connectors, and install connections FW1-J1, FW1-J2, FW2-J1, and
FW2-J2 into the correct holes in firewall.
H. On the engine side of the firewall, install jam nuts on connectors FW1-J1, FW1-J2, FW2-J1,
and FW2-J2, and safety wire jamb nuts.
I. Attach the following connectors to the ECU:
(1) A001-P1 to PRI (100-pin).
(2) A001-P2 to SEC (100-pin).
(3) A001-P3 to PRI (37-pin).
(4) A001-P4 to SEC (37-pin).

THE HARNESS HAS DIFFERENT DIAMETERS AT VARIOUS
LOCATIONS. CLAMPS ARE SIZED SPECIFICALLY FOR EACH AREA
ON THE HARNESS. IF A NEW HARNESS IS TO BE INSTALLED,
REFER TO THE LOCATION OF EACH CLAMP ON THE OLD HARNESS
FOR INSTALLATION ON THE NEW HARNESS. ALL OF THE CLAMPS
MUST BE INSTALLED IN THE CORRECT LOCATION ONE AT A
TIME.
