vrrp source-ip

The vrrp source-ip interface configuration command defines the source IP address used for Virtual
Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) messages on an interface. To return to default IP address, use
the no form of this command.
Syntax
vrrp virtual-router source-ip ip-address
no vrrp virtual-router source-ip
virtual-router—Virtual router number. (Range: 1 - 255)
ip-address—IP address used for VRRP communication.
Default Configuration
The default VRRP message is the VRRP with the lowest IP address.
Command Mode
Interface configuration (Ethernet, VLAN, port-channel)
User Guidelines
This command cannot be used with a range of ports.
Example
The following example defines the source IP address 168.192.1.1 for VRRP messages on g8.
Console(config)# interface ethernet g8
Console(config-if)# vrrp 45 source-ip 168.192.1.1

vrrp authentication

The vrrp authentication interface configuration command enables authentication for the Virtual
Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) on an interface. To disable authentication, use the no form
of this command.
Syntax
vrrp virtual-router authentication text
no vrrp virtual-router authentication
virtual-router—Virtual router number. (Range: 1 - 255)
text—Password up to 8 characters.
Default Configuration
VRRP authentication default is disabled.
