Figure 28. Installing the management card
To install the management card, which is shown by 1 in Figure 28, complete the following steps:
Procedure
1. Read the documentation that comes with the management card, if you ordered a replacement card.
2. Locate the connector on the currently installed system board into which the management card will
be installed. See 5 in Figure 2 on page 12 for the location.
Note: If an I/O expansion card is in the first slot, remove it to access the management card
connector.
3. Touch the static-protective package that contains the management card to any unpainted metal
surface on the IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis or any unpainted metal surface on any other
grounded rack component, and then remove the management card from its package.
4. Insert the management card (as shown by 1 in Figure 28) and verify that the card is securely on
the connector and pushed down all the way to the main board.

page 83 procedure?
Yes: Return to the Return to the Replacing the system-board and chassis assembly procedure.
No: Continue with the next step.
6. Install and close the compute node cover. See "Installing and closing the compute node cover" on
page 34.

Hazardous energy is present when the compute node is connected to the power source. Always
replace the compute node cover before installing the compute node.
