ATM Tips
This section provides tips for DEFINITY ATM PNC when interfacing with the
Cajun A500 ATM switch.
Initial LED inspection
Visually inspect the LEDs on both the TN230X
(Table 5-9) for a high-level status of the system.

states.

Steady on Normal state for active ATM EI board on PPN.
Off Normal state for standby ATM EI board on PPN and
EPN.

100ms on / Loss of signal on the OC-3 fiber. Either the
100ms off TN230X-receive (top) or TN230X-transmit (bottom)
fibers are not working.
- Running DSP diagnostics or downloading code to
DSPs (typical during boot process).
- Board insertion has not yet completed.
- Running maintenance tests. May appear to be blinking
if several short tests are run one after another.
- Hardware alarm. Does not necessarily take the
TN230X out of service, for example, if one of the 24
DSPs fails diagnostics.

Interpretation
Meaning
Normal state. Traffic is being sent or received
over the Ethernet LAN link.
