IPv6 Addressing
ipv6 enable
The ipv6 enable Interface Configuration mode command enables IPv6 processing on an interface.
Use the no form of this command to disable IPv6 processing on an interface.
Syntax
•
ipv6 enable [no-autoconfig]
•
no ipv6 enable
–
no-autoconfig — Enables IPv6 processing on an interface without a stateless address
autoconfiguration procedure.
Default Configuration
IPv6 is disabled. When the interface is enabled unless using the no-autoconfig parameter, stateless
address autoconfiguration procedure is enabled.
Command Mode
Interface Configuration (Ethernet, VLAN, Port-channel) mode. This command cannot be
configured for a range of interfaces (range context).
User Guidelines
•
The ipv6 enable command automatically configures an IPv6 link-local unicast address on the
interface while also enabling the interface for IPv6 processing. The no ipv6 enable command
removes the entire IPv6 interface configuration.
•
To enable stateless address autoconfiguration on an enabled IPv6 interface, use the ipv6 address
autoconfig command.
Example
The following example enables IPv6 processing onVLAN 1.
Console (config)# interface vlan 1
Console (config-if)# ipv6 enable
