Class I, Division 2 Electrical Connections (Alternative) –
Hardwire
As an alternative, in a Class I, Division 2 classified area, you can use the wiring
method requirements found in the NEC 501-4(b) or CEC 18-152 for conduit
connection to the analyzer. When the analyzer is hard-wired into the facility's
power system, using this method, it is considered "permanently connected
equipment" and the installation must comply with the following:
PN 592047901 Rev YC
The analyzer must have a separate disconnect device (such as a switch or
circuit breaker) included as part of the facility installation. This device must
be compatible with the power requirements of the analyzer. If the area
has been classified as Class I, Division 2, the disconnect device must also
comply with the requirements in the NEC 501-3(b).
The disconnect device must be close enough to the analyzer so the opera-
tor can reach it easily.
The disconnect device must be clearly marked as the power disconnect for
the analyzer.
