10. Raise the vehicle by turning the crank handle, until the tyre is clear of the ground.
11. Remove the wheel bolts and place together in a dry spot, to avoid getting dirt in the
threads.
12. Remove the wheel from the vehicle and change it over with the spare.
13. Install the wheel bolts and tighten by hand. Then, with the wheel wrench, lightly
tighten in a crisscross sequence.
14. Lower the vehicle completely and remove the jack.
15. Fully tighten the wheel bolts with the wheel
wrench in a crisscross sequence, as shown.
16. Install the wheel trim:
Steel wheels: Full size wheel covers have a
valve symbol on the rear of the cover to align
with the valve.
Line the hole for the valve with the valve and press on the wheel trim.
Alloy wheels: Install the individual wheel stud caps and press on the centre cap.
When replacing the centre cap, align the pin on the back of the cap with the
corresponding hole in the wheel and push the centre cap firmly into place.
17. Place the jacking point cover back over the jacking point, as necessary.
18. Stow away wheel, tools and jack.
19. Have the flat tyre repaired as soon as possible.
WARNING:
As soon as possible after changing a wheel, you should have the wheel
bolts tightened with a torque wrench to 110 Newton metres and have the
new wheel balanced on the vehicle.
Wheel bolts should be tightened evenly to the correct torque in a crisscross
pattern. Wheel bolts which have not been tightened properly could
eventually allow the wheel to come off while the vehicle is moving.
