WEEKLY CHECKS
Tyre inspection and rotation
Front and rear tyres perform different jobs
and can wear differently depending on the
types of roads driven, your driving habits,
wheel alignment and balance, tyre
pressures etc.
Tyre condition will be checked for you
when you take your vehicle to be serviced
by your Holden Retailer, who will be able
to diagnose any unusual signs of wear. If
the tyres are rotated it is recommended
that the balance be checked at the same
time.
Heavy treads
Caution must be exercised when using tyres with heavy treads, including tyres
designed to gain traction in bad weather conditions. At sustained high speeds, this
type of tyre will run at higher temperatures than standard tyres and consequently
should only be operated within the limits recommended by the manufacturer.
Any doubts concerning the fitness of the tyres on your vehicle for the purpose you
require should be referred to your Holden Retailer.
Wheel replacement
When replacing wheels for any reason, ensure that the new wheels are equivalent
in diameter, rim width, offset and mounting configuration to those originally installed
in your vehicle.
Note: Replacing your factory fitted wheels and tyres with non specified wheels and
tyres may affect your warranty as well as your motor vehicle insurance policy.
Tyre traction
WARNING:
A decrease in driving, cornering and braking traction occurs when water,
snow, ice, gravel or other material is on the road surface. Driving practises
and speed should be adjusted to the road conditions.
When driving on wet or slushy roads, it is possible for a wedge of water to build up
between the tyre and road surface. This phenomenon, known as hydroplaning, may
cause partial or complete loss of traction, which adversely affects control and stopping
ability. To reduce the possibility of traction loss, the following precautions should be
observed.
1. Reduce speeds during rainstorms, when roads are slushy or if the road has
standing water or puddles.
2. Replace tyres when tread wear indicators are visible.
3. Check that tyres are properly inflated.
