EMERGENCIES
Airbags are fitted for the driver and front
passenger, identified by the word AIRBAG
on the steering wheel and above the
glovebox.
The airbags operate as a pair – they are
triggered simultaneously.
If your vehicle is involved in a moderate or
severe front end collision, the airbags will
inflate, assisting the seat belts to restrain
forward body movement.
An operating noise may be heard and a
small amount of smoke-like gas will be
released. The gas is harmless and does
not indicate malfunction or fire.
The airbags will then deflate – the whole
process only taking a moment.
The airbags assist, but do not replace the
seat belts. The airbags are not designed to
inflate if the vehicle is hit from the rear or
side or the vehicle overturns. Seat belts
(by law) must be worn by all passengers
whenever the vehicle is moving.
Airbags inflate with great force. If you are
too close to an inflating airbag it could
seriously injure you. Seat belts help keep
you in position for airbag inflation in a
crash.
The airbags inflate with extreme rapidity. It
is therefore important that seats are
correctly adjusted. Adjust the driver's seat
to suit the driver's height so that the driver
is sitting upright with slightly bent arms
when holding the upper spokes area of the
steering wheel. The passenger seat should
be as far back as possible, with the back
rest upright.
The v light on the instrument panel will
glow for a few seconds when the ignition is
switched on. This is to indicate that the
airbags are operational. If the light does
not illuminate when the ignition is switched
to on or if it comes on when driving, contact
your Holden Retailer, as the system may
not function correctly, especially in an
accident.
AIRBAGS
Airbags will inflate if the vehicle is struck
hard within the non-shaded section.
Airbags will not inflate if the vehicle is
struck from the side, rear, or in some
rollovers... always wear a seat belt.
