FUEL
EXHAUST WARNING – CARBON
MONOXIDE POISONING
Exhaust gases can produce carbon monoxide; a dangerous gas, which
can cause unconsciousness and even death to both humans and animals.
You could inhale the gases if the exhaust system on your vehicle is faulty.
To protect against exhaust gases entering the vehicle, the exhaust
system and the body should be inspected:
– each time the vehicle is serviced,
– whenever a change is noticed in the sound of the exhaust system,
– whenever the exhaust system, underbody or rear of the vehicle
is damaged.
Take the vehicle to your Holden Retailer if you think your vehicle needs
inspecting.
Do not sit (or leave children or pets) in a parked vehicle for any extended
period of time with the engine running.
Do not run the engine in an enclosed area (such as the garage) any longer
than is needed to move the vehicle.
Driving with the tailgate / rear doors open is not recommended. If you must
travel with tailgate / rear doors open, close the windows and ensure that
the heater controls are set to outside air (not recirculated air) directed
to the face, with the fan on the highest speed. Do not exceed 50 km/h.
When the vehicle is driven for the first time, wax and oil on the exhaust system may
evaporate producing smoke-like emissions which should not be inhaled. Allow the
wax and oil to evaporate while the vehicle is in the open air.
LPG conversion
These vehicles have not been designed by Holden to be converted to LPG and Holden
does not provide LPG conversion kits for these vehicles. Please refer to the warranty
section in Chapter 9. Your warranty may be invalidated to the extent that any LPG
alterations affect the specifications of your vehicle.
WARNING – USE OF FUEL CONTAINING ETHANOL
When purchasing such fuel, we recommend that your vehicle be operated
on fuel containing no more than 10% ethanol. Purchasing your fuel from a
reputable fuel retailer may reduce the risk of purchasing fuel with more
than 10% ethanol or fuel which contains abnormal fuel properties.
Under no circumstances should you use fuel containing more than 10%
ethanol. Use of such fuels may result in engine malfunction, starting and
operating difficulties, and materials degradation. These adverse effects
could result in permanent damage to your vehicle and personal injury. It is
also important to note that when ethanol blends are used, fuel consumption
can be expected to increase due to the lower energy content of ethanol.
