Performing an SDH Tributary Scan
Tributary Scan tests each tributary for error free operation and no occurrence of
Pattern Loss. A failure is indicated by highlighting the tributary in which the failure

HOW TO:
1 Set up the transmit and receive SDH interfaces and payload as required. See
" page 49.
2 Choose the required BIT ERROR THRESHOLD.
This determines the error rate above which a failure is declared.
3 Choose the required TEST TIMING.
The value you choose is the test time for each individual tributary and not the total
test time.
For example, 63 TU-12 tributaries in an AU-4 - the time taken to complete the
Tributary Scan will be 63 X TEST TIMING choice.
