Alarm Troubleshooting
Clear the SSM-FAIL Alarm
Verify that SSM is enabled on the external timing source.
Step 1
If timing is enabled, use an optical test set to determine that the external timing source is delivering SSM.
Step 2
For specific procedures to use the test set equipment, consult the manufacturer.
Always use the supplied electrostatic discharge wristband when working with a powered ONS 15310-CL

1.7.214 SSM-OFF
The SSM Off condition applies to references used for timing the node. It occurs when the SSM for the
reference has been turned off. The condition is raised when the ONS system is set up to receive SSM,
but the timing source is not delivering SSM messages.

1.7.215 SSM-PRS
The SSM Primary Reference Source (PRS) Traceable condition occurs when the SSM transmission level
is changed to Stratum 1 Traceable.
SSM-PRS is an informational condition. It does not require troubleshooting.
