24 Safety
The safety props can be easily set when the tailgates are slightly open.
Danger!
Always use the appropriate tailgate safety prop when working under a raised tailgate. The
prop must be installed even if the tailgate is in fully raised position.
To set either tailgate safety prop on a co-mingle unit, apply the following procedure:
1.
Make sure the corresponding body compartment is empty.
2.
Remove the corresponding tailgate safety pin (see Figure 2-11).
Danger!
Make sure no one is standing behind the truck and there is no waste material left in the body
compartment prior to raising the tailgate.
3.
Start the engine.
4.
Turn ON the pump switch (see Figure 2-5).
Danger!
Make sure no one is standing behind the truck prior to raising the tailgate.
5.
Select the tailgate you want to open using the Tailgate Selector switch on the in-cab control panel
(see Figure 2-16).
Be sure the corresponding body compartment is empty and the safety pin is removed.

N
: On full ICC bumper-equipped co-mingle units, always open the tailgate to which the full ICC
OTE
bumper is attached before opening the other tailgate. For example, if the ICC bumper is
installed on the left-hand side tailgate (see top illustration on next page) and you want to open
the other tailgate, you will have first to open the left-hand side tailgate then the other tailgate.
In this case, be sure all compartments are empty and safety pins are removed.
