Engine does not start (starter motor does not
function).
Engine does not run smoothly.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
Fuel solenoid failure
Improper idle governor adjustment
Battery is discharged
Key switch failed
Failed starter and/or starter solenoid
Start relay failure
Loose or improper wiring
One or both 30-amp fuses blown
Neutral switch failure (failed open)
Transmission shifter linkage is binding or is
out of adjustment
Diode 1, 2, 5, or 6 failed closed
Incorrect nozzle opening pressure
Injection nozzle clogged
Failed injection pump
Fuel overflow pipe clogged
Fuel leak caused by loose injection pipe
retaining nut
Fuel pump failure
Air filter is dirty or clogged
Fuel filter clogged or dirty
Water or dirt in the fuel system
Muffler or exhaust pipe restricted with carbon
or other substance
Air filter is dirty or clogged
Throttle linkage out of adjustment
Restricted fuel flow
Clutches are not backshifting properly
Low cylinder compression
Incorrect injection timing
Seized engine parts
