Operating Instructions
6.10. The Internal Data Acquisition System
(iDAS)
The analyzer contains a flexible and powerful built in Data Acquisition System
(iDAS) that enables the analyzer to store concentration data as well as many
diagnostic parameters. This system is capable of storing a large amount of data.
Depending on how it is configured more than a year's worth of data can be stored.
The data is stored in non-volatile memory and is retained even when the
instrument is off. The stored data is in a form that makes it easy to process with
another computer application and plot graphically.
The iDAS is designed to be flexible. Users have full control over which data is stored
and when it's stored.
The iDAS permits users to access the stored data via the instrument's front panel or
its RS-232 COM Ports. The latter is designed for a remote computer to
automatically download the stored data for further processing.
One of the best uses of the iDAS is to log and trend certain predictive diagnostic
data that can assist the user in identifying possible problems with the analyzer
BEFORE they each a point where the functionality of the instrument is affected.
A separate "Built-In iDAS Manual" is available form T-API describing the full
functionality of the iDAS system as well as instructions for its configuration and use.
Also available from T-API is APIcom, a program that facilitates the setup of the
iDAS, as well as the downloading of data via the analyzers RS 232/485 I/O ports.

6.10.1. When the iDAS Is Operating

iDAS operates automatically whenever any data channels are enabled and while the
iDAS configuration is not being modified. While the iDAS configuration is being
modified the iDAS is suspended.
The green SAMPLE LED on the instrument front panel provides a general indication
of the iDAS status, as summarized in the table below.
104
LED State
Off
Not sampling (e.g. in zero or span calibration).
