Troubleshooting
This troubleshooting chart will cover basic engine
troubleshooting information. A separate engine manual,
prepared by the engine manufacturer, is supplied with
this machine. Refer to the engine manufacturer's manual
for further engine troubleshooting information.
Condition
Engine does not start.
Engine is hard to start, runs erratically,
stalls, looses power, or stops.
Mower does not engage when the OPC
bail is engaged.

Probable Cause
Choke not set properly.
Fuel tank empty.
Fuel shutoff valve closed.
Engine on/off switch in OFF position.
E-stop switch in OFF position.
Engine problem.
Choke not set properly.
Dirty or incorrect fuel.
Loose wire connections.
Air intake clogged.
Spark plug worn, dirty, or improperly
gapped.
Vent in fuel filler cap plugged.
Park brake is engaged.
Throttle/clutch cable is not adjusted
properly.
Reel clutch is not engaged.
Traction/reel drive clutch faulty.
Problem in power train.
Remedy
Refer to the engine manual for correct
choke usage.
Fill fuel tank with fresh, clean gasoline.

Open shutoff valve.
Move engine on/off switch to ON position.
Move E-stop switch to ON position.

Drain fuel tank and fill fuel tank with fresh,
clean gasoline. (See "Gasoline" on
page 2-7.)
Check wiring connections.
Refer to the engine manual for air cleaner
service information.
Refer to the engine manual for spark plug
service information.
Clean fuel filler cap.
Release park brake. (Refer to Operator's
Manual.)
Adjust throttle/clutch cable. (See "Throttle
and Clutch Control Cable Adjustment"
on page 3-4.)
Engage reel clutch. (Refer to Operator's
Manual.)
Replace clutch. (See "Engine and Clutch"
on page 3-7.)
Repair as needed. (See "Troubleshooting"
on page 5-3.)
