8.3.2 Moving or Copying Data Files to a USB Drive

Complete this section to move or copy a data file from internal memory to a USB drive.
Step 1.
Insert a USB drive in the 831C. Wait for the USB icon to appear in the
meter Status bar (about 10 seconds).
If the Data Storage setting is set to USB, but no USB drive is inserted,
the USB not available icon appears. Files save to the internal memory
until you insert a USB drive.

Go to Tools
Step 3.
Highlight the desired data file, and press Menu (
Step 4.
Select one of the following actions from the pop-up menu:
Copy File to USB

The data file will be copied onto the USB drive. The original file will remain
saved on the 831C.
•
Move File to USB
The original data file moves from the internal memory to the USB drive.
Copy All Internal to USB
•
Copies of all data files on the 831C are saved to the USB drive. The original data
files remain saved in internal memory.
•
Move All Internal to USB
All original data files move from the internal memory to the USB drive. The
internal memory is blank.
Step 5.
Examine the Data File Manager to confirm the desired action.
If the USB drive is removed during a measurement, the USB not
TAKE NOTE
available icon appears, the measurement ends, and data with that
measurement is not visible on the meter. When the USB drive is
reinserted, the USB caution icon appears. The meter notifies you
that there is unsaved data and prompts you to Save or Delete the
measurement data. You cannot continue with the same measurement.
