5.4 Calibrating Your SoundAdvisor 831C

5.4.1 Calibrating While Using Meter Security (Lock Mode)

SoundAdvisor Model 831C
Step 1
On your SoundAdvisor, press Tools
Step 2
Choose your calibrator from the Select Calibrator drop-down menu.
Refer to the calibrator's user guide for more information.

Step 3
Insert the 1/2" microphone into the 1/2" microphone opening at the bottom of
the calibrator.
Step 4
Power the calibrator on. The calibrator turns off after 1 minute. Use it within
that time, or press the power button again.
Step 5
Use the navigation keys to select Do Calibration. The 831C calibrates and asks
if you want to save the results.
Step 6
Select Yes when complete.
If you see an error message (such as Calibration Out of Range), verify that the

dB level for your calibrator and your meter are the same, then perform the
calibration again. Be sure to power the calibrator on each time.
While the meter interface is locked, you can still calibrate the meter when the
measurement is stopped.
Before you begin:
• Lock the meter interface as shown in 11.1.2 "Unlocking the Meter from the Meter
Interface" on page 101.

The LD Model 426A12 Outdoor preamplifier and power supply or Model 2100 outdoor
preamplifier each contain an E.A. (electrostatic actuator) in the rain hat, which can be used
to perform a remote calibration check.
