A.7.5 Supported Hardware Configurations for FFT Measurements
A.7.6 Cursors
SoundAdvisor Model 831C
G4 software: Full Spectra display, with the ability to zoom beyond 1:1 line to pixel
ratio for characterizing data.
The 831C in FFT mode is capable of computing both acoustic and vibration
signals. Supported hardware configurations include:
For Acoustic Measurements
SoundAdvisor Model 831C + PRM831 + microphone
SoundAdvisor Model 831C + ADP074 + BNC cable + 378 series ICP®
preamplifier and microphone combination (such as378B02).
Computation of ISO 1996 or ISO/PAS 20065 tonality is computed only when the
meter is configured for acoustic signals. When configured for acoustic signals the
831C reports data in dB re 20 uPa, and the integration feature is not available.
For Vibration Measurements
SoundAdvisor Model 831C + ADP074 + Cable + ICP® accelerometer.
When configured for vibration, the meter can report data in a variety of vibration
units (i.e. m/s, etc.), and the integration feature is available.
General Vibration sensor requirements
ICP® or IEPE electrical interface
Single axis
Recommended Sensors
SEN024 – single axis, 10 mV/g, ICP® accelerometer
SEN025 – single axis, 100 mV/g, ICP® accelerometer
For a complete selection of accelerometers and cables see www.pcb.com.
Main Cursor: Level at the frequency selected: maximum tracking available.
Tone Cursor: Tonality information at the tone selected. Maximum tracking on
Live data for ISO 1996-2 and ISO 20065.
Harmonic Cursors: Identifies harmonics of the frequency selected by the main
cursor; up to 24 cursors.
