Step 6.
Select the checkbox in-line with Event History, and enter values for the Min/
Cont Duration.
About the Minimum Duration: To prevent many small events of short
duration, you can select a Minimum Duration. This is the length of time in
seconds that levels must exceed the trigger levels to be labeled an event. This
value can be 60 seconds or less.
If you are using this feature with Sound Recording, there are constraints on
TAKE NOTE
your Minimum Duration. See
About the Continuation Period: A noise event is initiated when the sound level
exceeds the trigger level or levels you define. There may be situations where the
sound level drops below the threshold level for a short period before exceeding
them again. Statistically, if you want to consider this a continuation of the first
event rather than a new event, you can set a Continuation Period. This is the
length of time in seconds following an event where the measured sound level
can dip below, then exceed the threshold level again, and still be statistically
considered part of the initial event. This value must be 9 seconds or less.
However, if the measured level drops below the threshold level and remains
below it during the continuation period, the sound event is considered
complete.
Step 7.
Select Level or Dynamic from the Trigger Method drop-down menu.
