(Optional) If desired, after the FFT measurement is complete, switch the 831C to
SLM Mode, connect a weather sensor (such as the SEN031 or SEN032 from
Larson Davis) and measure site conditions.
In this section, take a tour of the live data on the meter display during a measurement, and
learn how to customize display elements. Use the right softkey (
various tabs shown in this section.
Live Tab: SLM Data
The Live tab continues to show SLM data even in FFT mode. For additional details on this
tab and associated pages, see 4.1.1 Understanding the Live Tab on page 31.
FFT Live Tab
The FFT Live tab displays the current and recently measured sound. While the 831C
measures FFT spectra for up to 6400 lines of resolution, the display resolution is much
lower than this. As a result, each line in the FFT graph may contain more than 1 measured
value. In this case, the amplitude and frequency displayed for a cursor position is
determined by the maximum value of the multiple, overlapping FFT levels. Figure 18-9
describes display elements and available adjustments.
