Ascotel CTI and TAPI

CTI products (CTI: Computer Telephony Integration) are programs and equipment
that provide PC-based telephony and data service properties (see CTI documenta-
tion). Most of these products support the TAPI Microsoft standard, a standardized
software interface between computer and phone equipment.
To operate TAPI-compliant CTI products on the system, you need the Ascotel
TAPI TSP driver 5.1F or 5.1T. Each of the current drivers can be downloaded from
the Internet.
In telephony, computers are used in the following areas:
• Telephony functions (setting up and clearing down connections, call identifica-
tion and call distribution, etc.)
• Data transmission (fax, modem, etc.)
• Messaging (voice mail, fax mail and e-mail)
• Automatic Call Distribution (ACD)
A distinction is made here between first-party CTI and third-party CTI.
