Exchange-to-Exchange Traffic

Exchange-to-exchange traffic covers all interactions involving at least
2 subscribers in the public network and at least 1 local subscriber in the PBX
(internal subscriber).
5.5.1

Exchange-to-Exchange Connections

In an exchange-to-exchange connection two seized B channels to the public ISDN
network are connected with each other locally in the PBX.
Exchange-to-exchange traffic can be enabled or barred throughout the system
("Exchange-to-exchange connection" setting in the basic setup). The barring is
not effective for inter-network connections to the public network or to on one
side only, e.g. PISN-PISN or PISN-exchange.
The system only supports exchange-to-exchange traffic on digital network inter-
faces.
If sections of exchange-to-exchange connections are analogue, the transmission
quality will decrease.
In some countries private PBX operators are not authorized to transfer an outside
call back to the public network.
Tip:
Explain the situation regarding operating rights to the PBX operator dur-
ing the negotiation stage.
