LOWER BALL JOINT INSPECTION
1. Raise the car
on a frame con-
tact hoist or
by
floor
jacks placed
beneath
the
underbody until the
wheel falls to the full
down
posi-
tion.
l. Ask
an assistant to grasp the
lower
edge
of the tyre
and move
the
wheel in
and out.
3.
As the wheel is being
moved
in and
out, observe
the lower
end
of the
spindle
and the
lower arm.

Also, do not mistake loose wbeel
bearin1s for a wom baU joint.
4.
Any movement between the
lower end of the spindle
and
the
lower arm indicates ball joint wear
and
loss
of preload.
If any
such
movement is observed, replace the
lower arm.
