(7) Disconnect t u r n signal a n d k e y - i n switch w i r i n g
connectors. (Figs. 8, 9).
(8) Disassemble steering c o l u m n for switch removal
as follows:
(a) S t a n d a r d C o l u m n : Remove screw holding
wiper-washer
switch to t u r n signal switch pivot.
Leave the entire t u r n signal lever (control stalk) i n
its installed position.
Remove 3 screws a t t a c h i n g bearing
retainer
and t u r n signal switch t o upper bearing housing
(Fig. 10). P u l l t u r n signal s w i t c h out o f column f a r
enough to set aside. D O N O T completely
remove
switch and w i r i n g assembly.
(b) T i l t C o l u m n : Depress lock plate w i t h Tool
C-4156 and pry r e t a i n i n g r i n g out o f groove w i t h
screwdriver (Fig. 11). T h e f u l l l o a d o f t h e u p p e r
b e a r i n g s p r i n g s h o u l d n o t b e r e l i e v e d ; i f i t is,
the r e t a i n i n g r i n g w i l l t u r n too easily m a k i n g re-
moval more difficult. Remove lock plate, cancelling
cam, and upper bearing s p r i n g .

Place t u r n signal s w i t c h i n r i g h t t u r n position. Re-
move screw w h i c h attaches l i n k between t u r n signal
switch and wiper-washer switch pivot. Remove screw
w h i c h attaches hazard w a r n i n g switch knob ( F i g .
12). Remove 3 screws a t t a c h i n g t u r n signal switch to
steering column.
(8) P u l l t u r n signal and hazard w a r n i n g switch out
of column far enough t o set aside (Fig. 10). DO N O T
completely remove s w i t c h and w i r i n g assembly.
(9) Remove screw m o u n t i n g k e y - i n switch (Fig. 13).
(10) G e n t l y p u l l the k e y - i n switch up from column
w h i l e s t r a i g h t e n i n g and g u i d i n g wires and wire con-
nector u p t h r o u g h column opening.
INSTALLATION
(1) Guide k e y - i n s w i t c h w i r i n g and connector down
t h r o u g h

column opening.
(2) Secure key-in s w i t c h t o column (Fig. 13).
(3) Assemble upper p a r t o f steering column.

C o l u m n : Position t u r n

bearing housing. I n s t a l l 3 m o u n t i n g screws and
t i g h t e n securely. Position t u r n signal lever (control
