t h e m d r y w i t h l i n t free shop towels for inspection

and test purposes.

Overdrive valve body screw t i g h t e n i n g torques are

unchanged and r e m a i n a t 4 N n n (35 in-lbs) torque.

Screw t i g h t e n i n g sequence also remains t h e same

(start at center and w o r k outward).

The h y d r a u l i c pressure adjustments for t h e over-

drive valve body are t h e same as for Chrysler auto-

transmission

Maintenance a n d Adjustments i n t h e three speed

transmission section for procedures.

OVERDRIVE UNIT DISASSEMBLY

(1) Remove overdrive clutch w i r e r e t a i n i n g r i n g

(2) Remove overdrive clutch pack plates and discs

(Fig. 6. Thickest plate is t h e clutch pressure plate.

T h i s plate i s positioned a t front o f clutch pack.

(3) Remove overdrive clutch wave r i n g ( F i g . 7).

T h i s special r i n g acts as a cushion to absorb shock

w h e n the overdrive clutch engages.

(4) Remove large f l a t snap r i n g from same groove

as wave r i n g was i n s t a l l e d i n (Fig. 8).
