1st call of SERIAL_RX
1 valid value at output RX
→ AVAILABLE = 3
2nd call of SERIAL_RX
1 valid value at output RX
→ AVAILABLE = 2
3rd call of SERIAL_RX
1 valid value at output RX
→ AVAILABLE = 1
4th call of SERIAL_RX
invalid value at the output RX
→ AVAILABLE = 0
If AVAILABLE = 0, the function can be skipped during processing of the program.

0 = no valid data available
