M2M Cellular Gateway
TCP clients to connect to the gateway by using their IP addresses if the trust type is "Specific IP".
Furthermore, when the "UDP" mode is selected for the virtual COM function, there are two more
configuration parameters need to specify. They are the WAN interface and the listen port. In the "UDP"
mode, there is another "Legal IP Definition (UDP)" window can let you define four hosts as UDP peers
to connect to the gateway by using their IP addresses.
At last, when the "RFC‐2217" mode is selected for the virtual COM function, there are five more
configuration parameters need to specify. They are the WAN interface, the listen port, the trust type to
allow all remote client hosts to connect to the gateway or allow only 4 client hosts to connect, the
connection idle timeout and the alive check timeout. In the " RFC‐2217" mode, there is another
"Trusted IP Definition" window can let you define four hosts as TCP clients to connect to the gateway by
using their IP addresses if the trust type is "Specific IP".
These operation modes are illustrated as below.
TCP Client Mode in On‐demand Control Scenario
Scenario Application Timing
When the administrator wants the gateway to actively establish a TCP connection to a
pre‐defined host computer when serial data arrives, the operation mode for the
"Virtual COM" function is required to be "TCP Client" and the connection control is
required to be "On‐demand". Besides, after the data has been transferred, the gateway
can automatically disconnect from the host computer by using the TCP alive check
timeout or idle timeout settings.
Scenario Description
When the connection control of virtual COM is "On‐demand", and once the IOG
gateway receive data from the serial device, it will establishes a TCP connection to
transfer the received serial data to the remote host.
After the data has been transferred, the gateway automatically disconnects from the
host computer by using the TCP alive check timeout or idle timeout settings.
Index skipping is used to reserve slots for new function insertion, when required.
