ECT SENSOR
INSPECTION
Drain the coolant from the system (page
6-6).
Remove the Eel sensor (page 5-57).
Heat the coolant (1:1 mixture) with an electric heating
element.
Suspend the
EeT
sensor in heated coolant and
measure the resistance through the sensor as the
coolant heats
up.
Soak the
EeT
sensor in coolan
t
up to its threads
with
at
least 40 mm (1.6 in) from the bollom of the
pan to the bottom of the sensor.
Keep temperature constant for 3 minutes before
testing.
A sudden change of temperature will result
in incorrect readings. Do not lei the thermometer or
Eel
sensor touch the
pan.

Replace the
Eel
sensor if it is out of
specifications.
Install the ECT sensor (page
5~57)_
REMOVAL
Drain the coolan

(page 6-6).
Remove the exhaust system (page
2·9).
Disconnect the EeT sensor 2P (Black) connector.
Remove the ECT sensor and O-ring.
INSTALLATION
Install a new O-ring onto the ECT sensor.
Install and tighten the ECT sensor to the specified
torque.

Connect

connector.
Install the exhaust system (page 2-9).
Fill and bleed the cooling system (page 6-6).
