Archiving and restoring Symposium Web
Center Portal data
Introduction
Use the Symposium Web Center Portal archive and restore utility, on the Portal
server, to store contacts and associated data. The archive utility allows you to
remove old contacts and associated information from the database and store it in
a specified location, such as a specified network drive, for restoring to the
database or another utility.
When you archive files from the database, you remove the following tables:
transaction table
!
response table
!
customer table (optional)
!
attachment_tab table
!
attachments as referenced in the attachment _tab files
!
acknowledgements_attachments table
!
Once the data is archived, the existing records of this information are deleted
from the database, including the archived attachments. The customer details are
only deleted if there are no existing contacts remaining for that customer.
Acknowledgment attachments are not deleted as they may be used by other
contacts.
Note: The data is deleted from the database, therefore, you do not need to run
the purge utility after you run the archive utility.
Archiving guidelines
The Symposium Web Center Portal database can store up to 750 000
transactions. However, Nortel Networks recommends that you start archiving
your database once it reaches 500 000 transactions, and that you try to maintain
a balance of 500 000 transactions in the database.
