server on Linux
Introduction
This section outlines the procedures to install the Sample Customer Interface
and Web Communication components with a Linux operating system (Red Hat
Linux 9.0 or later).
You must have experience with Linux and be familiar with the commands
required for installing and configuring applications on Linux.
Software requirements
Before you begin, you must download the latest versions the following
applications:
Java Developer Kit (j2sdk-1_4_1_06-linux-i586-rpm.bin or later) from

java.sun.com
Tomcat (jakarta-tomcat-4.1.29.tar.gz or later) from jakarta.apache.org

Apache2 (apache2-2.0.47-1.7.2.i386.rpm or later) from jakarta.apache.org
!
Mod_jk2 Connector (mod_jk2-ap20-2.0.1-1jpp.i386.rpm or later) from

jakarta.apache.org
Installing the Java Developer Kit

Log on to the External Web server as the root user.

Download a J2SDK (j2sdk-1_4_1_06-linux-i586-rpm.bin or later) from the
jave.su.com web site.

Copy the j2sdk bin file to the /opt directory.

Give execute access to the j2sdk file you downloaded. The following
command executes j2sdk-1_4_1_06-linux-i586-rpm.bin:
chmod 777 j2sdk-1_4_1_06-linux-i586-rpm.bin

Extract the rpm file. The following command extracts j2sdk-1_4_1_06-linux-
i586-rpm.bin:
