Installing the Portal Desktop

Introduction
The Portal Desktop is an interface between the TAPI Client software and the
Agent Interface. Install the Portal Desktop on each agent PC. Ensure that you
complete the procedures in the order given in the Portal Desktop checklist. For
more information, refer to "Portal Desktop checklist" on page 536.
You can only install the Portal Desktop component on a PC running Windows
2000 Professional or Windows XP.
Notes:
After you install the Portal Desktop software, you can enable logging on
!
the Portal Desktop computer. For an agent to be able to log on to a
particular computer, the agent must have Read, Write, and Modify
permissions on the SWCPLog folder on that computer. For more
information, refer to "To modify permissions on the SWCPLog folder" on
page 187.
If you do not want the agent to have access to the SWCPLog files, you must
!
remove his or her permissions on the SWCPLog folder (Read, Write, and
Modify). The SWCPLog folder is usually located in C:\SWCPLog, where
C: is the drive on which you installed the Symposium Web Center Portal
components. For more information, refer to "To modify permissions on the
SWCPLog folder" on page 187.
If you are planning to use Agent Roaming in your contact center, you must
!
apply these logging permissions to all SWCPLog folders on all the
computers for all agents that may log on. Alternatively, you can create a
Domain Users group, add your roaming agents to this group, and then apply
this group to all SWCPLog folders on all the agents' computers, and set the
required permissions for the group. For more information about
permissions, refer to "To modify permissions on the SWCPLog folder" on
page 187.
